BanThePums.com Back With a New Campaign
to Reduce UK Fuel Prices
In 2002 Britain was brought to a standstill
by the fuel blockades - they didn't work. Then the 'don't
buy petrol on a certain day' campaign failed. But, BanThePumps.com,
the site that orchestrated the 2002 blockades, has come
up with a plan they say can really work.
The UK is rapidly heading to an all time
record of £1.00 a litre, the vast percentage of which
is tax (in the form of fuel duty or value added tax) and
is somewhat higher than the European average, and dramatically
higher than other developed countries such as the United
States and Australia.
'Want petrol prices to come down?' Asks the site that
became the hub for the fuel protestors of 2002.
The site believes it has an answer and suggests that we
need to take some intelligent, united action and persuade
the Government to change policy on levying such heavy taxes
on fuel. They have decided to use the power of the internet
to get their message across releasing the new Campaign
to Reduce UK Fuel Tax as a viral email.
This is a relatively new a marketing method used very
successfully by online marketing companies which relies
on people passing on an article or item of interest to
friends and colleagues.
BanThePumps.com is pushing for all British consumers to
take action. ‘United we can influence Government
policy.’
In 2002 BanThePumps.com helped bring Britain to a standstill
by being the point of contact for the fuel blockades -
they didn't work!
Then the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day' campaign
failed!
The Government didn't back down on policy and BanThePumps.com
cites the reason as being because they knew the public
wouldn't continue to hurt themselves by refusing to buy
petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to them than it
was a problem for the Government.
But, BanThePumps.com, say they have come up with a plan
that can really work.
'Now that the Government has conditioned us to think that
the cost of a litre is cheap at 77p - 80p, we need to take
aggressive action to make them listen to the fact that
we really have had enough of being ripped off!'
'With the price of fuel going up more each day, we consumers
need to take action. The only way we are going to see the
price of petrol come down is if the Government backs down
and stops fleecing the UK motorist with disproportionately
high taxes.'
'And we can do that without hurting ourselves.'
They have drafted a letter and are asking that it be forwarded
via computers, fax and to even print it off and post it
to everyone people know... plus a copy to the Chancellor.
They have then published the contact details of the relevant
departments and ask that the British consumer not relent
until the Government reduce the tax on fuel
